Recently Dean trained at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio in Los Angeles, CA to upgrade his acting skills while becoming certified as an accredited instructor in the technique.
This 2 month intensive allowed Dean the opportunity to see hundreds of scenes performed and critiqued in the classroom environment. He worked with several actors and acting coaches at the Studio including Ivana Chubbuck herself. To become accredited he coached a series of scenes while being critiqued step by step by Ivana. Dean has been instructing the skills of acting and improvisation since he was 16. By continuing to perform and teach he has gained a wealth of knowledge in a variety of acting related studies.
He has been part of the Manitoba Arts Council’s (MAC), Artists in the Schools (AIS) program since 2008. This allows schools to team up with professional artists from across the province and offer a weeks worth of instructing to their students with the help of MAC.
Dean is qualified to teach both adult and school level classes in the following areas:
- acting for the camera
- filmmaking
- improvisation
- theatre
- gorilla theatre
- mime
- stage combat
Dean is willing to work with individuals and organizations to offer a scenario that fits with their needs. He has found that teaching through acting games and techniques can bring out skills in people in a very short amount of time.
